Poll-Safe™ PS635 Pollable Call Record Buffer

This device is used to collect SMDR data from a phone system. It collects and stores up to 256 KB of ASCII data via one serial port and you can retrieve the data by connecting a computer to the other serial port, or you can dial in to its internal modem! It can also operate in pass-through mode so that the data can be directly logged to the computer! Even better, the Poll-Safe can resume buffering if the computer is disconnected!

The original retail price of this unit is over $600 - This unit is being sold with a starting bid of $5 and NO RESERVE! High bidder *will* win this auction!

Here is some information from the website for the product:

  • An economical, pollable buffer which is compatible with your existing application.
  • Data collection and storage capabilities with battery backup and an internal 2400 baud modem, standard with every unit.
  • Power filter and watchdog protection circuitry guard against power spikes.
  • In the event of power loss or a spike that causes a crash, the watchdog system will reset the PS635 without losing any stored data. The system settings are automatically restored.
  • PS635 firmware is stored in Flash ROM. This allows new features and updates to be uploaded via modem without taking the PS635 out of service.
  • A lithium backup system provides up to ten years of data retention in the event of power loss.
  • Memory sizes from 256K to 512K are available.
Although it is designed for the telecom industry it can log any serial data, for example, from seismographs, weather stations, GPS receivers or anything else!

For experimenters, this unit is a Z80-based single board computer, with RAM, EEPROM, ISA slot (for the retail internal modem) and the terminal kernel.
